The University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) is the largest public online university in the nation. UMCG currently serves a very diverse student population: heavily working adults who are going back to school or to finish their degrees, as well as military-affiliated students worldwide.
As an online university, it can be tough to help new students feel like they belong. The institution’s leaders responsible for onboarding new students were looking for ways to help students feel connected and part of UMGC, from registering for their first class to graduation. Understanding how student engagement builds affinity and wanting to expand recruiting capabilities to operate at scale, UMGC sought a digital solution to nurture students through the admissions process.
UMGC was already reaping the benefits of Advantage Orientation®. Since launch, administrators have seen orientation completion rates more than double, spurring their interest in a recruitment experience for prospective students earlier in the admissions process.
